THEY DRY AND DROWN
(2022-2023)
The Veracruz Metropolitan Area is the twentieth largest metropolitan area in the country. It is a major center of population growth in the Gulf of Mexico. However, it presents recurring problems related to flooding, lack of water and contamination of lagoons, beaches, streams, wetlands, mangroves and the Jamapa River basin.
Likewise, there are also conditions that lead to change or characteristics of many of the ecosystems, derived from the manipulation of the terrain around bodies of water, and consequently modify the interaction of the inhabitants with them.
It is relevant to keep these situations in focus, supported by awareness of what surrounds us, to really support changes that improve or at least raise awareness about the beauty and richness of natural spaces in the city that are threatened.
They dry up and drown was a project supported by the FONCA/SACPC Young Creators program.
